The former foundation of the School is the Department of Health Care which was set up in 1989, and then was changed into the Nursing – Midwifery Department in November, 2009.In the period between 1989 and 2009, the Department also trained Nursing and Midwifery at elementary and intermediate levels. From 2010, the School has been assigned the task of training Nursing with a Bachelor’s Degree by The University and The Ministry of Education and Training (44 graduates in the first program).Since 2011, the School has undertaken the program which trained Nursing via the form of part-time training (123 graduates in the first program). In 2012, the School started training Nursing in level 1 by the mission from the Ministry of Health (47 graduates in the first program)In 2013, the School began to organize the courses of Continuing Medical Education (CME) with a wide range of themes which caters for upgrading particularly extensive expertise for different types of learners. In 2014, the School and the University were accepted by the Ministry of Health to be one of the four Nursing Schools all over the country that participated in the second step of the project in which teaching methods need to achieve academic standards. The number of students who are trained by the School has been increasing gradually with an approximately corresponding growth in the need of medical workforce in Ho Chi Minh City, while the quality has been also taken into account significantly. The School’s strategic visions and orientation are fully transparent, and they are equated roughly with the mutual growth of the University and the Ho Chi Minh’s Healthcare System in both the short term and the long term. One of them would become a School that acquires its prestige in implementing scientific research and training Nurses, Midwives, Medical Technicians for medical labor market in Ho Chi Minh City and other southern provinces since 2015.During years, especially the period from 2008 till now, the School has been making a huge effort so as to gain the significant development in the task of training for various objects such as nurses, midwives, medical technicians both quantitatively and qualitatively that satisfies the appetite of the healthcare’s workforce. Asides from this, the implementation of policies in which learners’ job positions are sorted by their academic performance, granted financial supports when they are able to indicate outstanding outcomes despite of their humble background, and so forth, become an icon and a considerable incentive for all students.
